My husband and I are planning on going on a cruise in November, approx. 3 weeks after he is SUPPOSED to get back from overseas on a deployment. The fear we have is that if his mission gets extended, and we are not able to go (which has happened to other units that are over there with his unit right now). We are weary of travel insurances, as they normally do not cover this. Does anyone know if Carnival will give us a credit for our cruise for us to go later on? Also, what about airlines (we will most likely fly Delta)? If we don’t get refundable tickets, is there a way to turn them into a credit, kind of like Southwest does? I think we can just get a hold on a hotel room but not be obligated to pay unless we cancel less than 24 hours before we are supposed to stay. Anyone with any experience in this?

I am on a South African passport, I know I need a visa, been trying to phone these guys about 50 times, only got through once, ended up with the wrong department and then cut off…So am planning to just turn up there tomorrow… can anyone shed any light on their procedures / requirements?? Obviously I’m taking along passport and a multitude of other documents (bank statements, plane ticket, proof of accomodation, travel insurance etc…)

Is there an insurance agency that will cover my trip should my husband be deployed to Afghanistan?

It’s up in the air and it looks like my husband will not be deploying …however there’s about a 20% chance he could. If he does is there a travel insurance company that would refund the price of my air fare? I really want to see my friends as I’ve been depressed since we got stationed here in NC. I’m from Hawaii and it’s too expensive for me to fly home. My friends are coming on a business trip to AL and I could see them for five days. However I do not want to miss my husband’s last five days home should he deploy. I would **** to loose the cost of my air fare. I can not book the trip if I don’t have a way to recoup my cost should there be a change in my husband’s deployment. Any help or ideas? Thanks.

I will be out of the country for five months working on my travel website http://www.bombasticlife.com where I do trave review of hotels, restaurants, people I meet along they way and different gadgets that I use while traveling and need to have medical insurance incase something happens. I’m not looking for travel insurance that will cover me incase my trip is canceled but for medical coverage incase I get sick or have an accident, something like a major medical plan. Any ideas or suggestions?

Friday, October 30th, 2009Trip cancellation due to illness?
Friday, October 23rd, 2009LadyGirl asked:
Hello everyone- I booked a flight to Thailand back in December but bought insurance last month for the trip (via the same company I bought the flight from) because I couldn’t afford it at the time I bought the ticket. It is now February and I’m having some health issues that may not be resolved before we depart in March. Question- will my travel insurance cover a flight cancellation if I need to make one since I bought it a month later? I could get a physician’s note saying the illness started after I bought the flight insurance. Also, my travel companion has not purchased travel insurance, if he purchased it now would it still apply for a flight cancellation in a couple weeks if we need to do it? I hope it isn’t the case but better safe than sorry.

Saturday, October 17th, 2009When travelling by boat, can a thai citizen visit countries without first obtaining a visa?
Friday, October 16th, 2009Bob W asked:
My Thai girlfriend and I will be travelling by sailboat (hopefully). While travelling by air and land, we consistently have to obtain visas in advance, which often entails a lot of travel and expense, making much of our time turn into just getting visas. Does anyone know if it is any easier if your home is your sailboat and you just want to visit ports and islands?
